Boys and Girls

Club of Wallingford

Robert Woytowich

Robert Woytowich serves as Program Director for the Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club for over 13 years.  Robert always strives to maintain a fun, safe and enriching environment for the Wallingford Community.  He left the Program Director position in January 2015 and now owns a daycare.  Upon his departure, he still continues to assist our club.  Every week, he mentors a high school senior, named Jake, who has attended the Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club since elementary school.  Robert assists Jake with homework help/tutoring, along with every day life lessons from how to throw a football to what a healthy relationship looks like.  Recently, Robert has been motivating Jake to apply for jobs.  Just last week, they drove around Wallingford together and submitted job applications to several places.  Now, Robert is teaching Jake the importance in professionally following up with job opportunities.  Robert helps Jake prepare for his future.  He works closely with Jake's guidance counselor to make sure that he is ready to graduate.  That is just an example of one youth whose life was touched by Robert - there are many others as well.  For 5 years, Robert spent every Sunday from 12 pm to 2 pm managing a mentoring program with Choate Rosemary Hall.  Dozens of youth throughout Wallingford would spend Sunday afternoon playing games and having lunch with students at Choate.  Often times, Robert spent over 50 hours a week investing in the club to better the youth of Wallingford.  Robert strives to ensure that he didn't settle for mediocre - for special events, such as the club's annual Safe Trick or Tear Party, he spent over 10 hours the day of the event preparing the part with other members because he found importance in running high quality programs for our community.  Robert spent countless hours, and worked 7 days a week quite often because he believes in our youth.  He is a prime example of someone who humbly sacrifices himself to better the lives of others.  Although he may have physically left the Ulbrich Boys & Girls Club, his legacy still remains in our doors.  The impact he left on hundreds of lives at our club will carry on.  Hats off to Robert - a man who genuinely cares for today's youth and will do anything in his power to make a difference in their lives.

Jeisha Alvarado

Jeisha Alvarado has been an active member and played a significant role in our club since the beginning of this summer.  Her involvement has uplifted our environment and fills our club with even more joy and positivity.  Almost every day after school, you can find Jeisha at the club doing her homework, helping youth with their homework and most importantly Jeisha leads by example.  Every month, our club hands awards to youth who demonstrate positive character and leadership.  When presenting awards our first month of the school year, all the members of the club filled int he blanks before introducing the month's "Overall Youth of the Month" award - which is given to someone who actively leafs and has good character.  Everyone knew Keisha would receive the award - given the hard work, dedication, and time she puts in to the club; and she has fun while doing so.  Keisha assists staff with leading activities because she enjoys having the leadership experience.  She humbly chooses to clean the club without being asked to do so, simply because she cares.  When she sees her peers doing something she know is against club policy she helps fear them into the right direction in a non-condemning, loving way - so we can all better the environment that we're in together.  This summer, Jeisha was a volunteer Junior Counselor, where she assisted staff with leading activities for elementary and middle school members.  In most cases this summer, Keisha spent over 40 volunteer hours per week at the club.  Jeisha also plays indoor and outdoor track and field, where she does the 4 by 400 and 4 by 800 relay races.  Jeisha has always lived in Wallingford and she has two brothers,  We are very fortunate to have Keisha as a part of our Boys & Girls Club family.
