Wallingford Parks and Rec
Greg Morrone
I nominate Greg Morrone as a Champion for Youth. Greg has been involved with basketball programs at the Wallingford Parks and Recreation Dept. for over 14 years and has spent the last 5 as Co - Director of the Weber & Gannon Youth Basketball League. Greg is also a Physical Education teacher in the Durham School District and in 2013 was awarded the Durham/Middlefield Teacher of the Year Award. As Co-Director of the basketball league, Greg embodies everything outlined by the Coalition for a Better Wallingford. While Co-Directing a league of over 1000 players, Greg consistently displays a positive attitude with players and coaches, while maintaining the integrity of the program. Greg is a big proponent for getting all kids involved with the league to give them a fun and positive opportunity through sport. Greg embodies the word "teamwork" by going above and beyond to make sure league officials, volunteer coaches and players understand their role in making the season a success.
Greg embodies the "drug free" lifestyle and every year is proud to say we are keeping over 200 High school boys and girls off the street with the high school division of the Weber & Gannon League.
I hope you look favorably upon Greg Morrone for this award. His contributions to the Town of Wallingford and the Parks & Recreation Department are invaluable.
