Lars Edeen

"I want to introduce you to someone that is an engaged, selfless, intelligent individual and a true citizen of Wallingford. Mr. Lars Edeen, along with his wonderful wife, Mary, and partner in the truest sense of the word, have been married for 33 years, raised 6 children and have been an active part of Wallingford for many years. We all may know Lars in a few capacities, one as a local business owner providing law advice in real estate and business realms. As a local business owner, Lars has served his community through the business support and outreach he provides.

In another capacity, you may know him as the coach involved in a myriad of youth sports that all of his children played. Whether it was on the baseball field with his boys, supporting his daughters in volleyball or volunteering for Park and Recreation Basketball for both boys Weber and girls Gannon leagues, Lars could always be counted on to organize the kids, teach sportsmanship, teach fairness and provide a great learning experience for all involved. As president of Wallingford Little League for 15+ years, he has seen countless young boys go through the league as T-Ballers, just barely being able to hold a bat, all the way through to seeing them play at the college level. It is because of his inclusive leadership that brings many members of the board back to volunteer for Little League even after their children have graduated the league.

But, the way I know him is in the best capacity - I get to call him "friend". Lars' ability to provide people warmth, kindness and respect is unmatched. He lends an ear to vent to, he tells a joke to diffuse a situation, but his ability to communicate that someone cares is something we all can learn from.

I want to congratulate him on this wonderful award and a very, very deserving recipient."

Ethan Zukowski

Ethan has been playing in the Wallingford Little League since 2007 and during that period has participated in numerous extra curricular events that directly effect the success of the program. His natural ability, positive attitude, dedication, teamwork and hard work both on and off the field are just a few of the characteristics that make Ethan a worthy candidate for this award. He has worked tirelessly year after year, however, some roles he has taken include but are not limited to...assisting a team of builders to construct a shed for the league equipment, cleaning and maintenance of the grounds year after year, helping orchestrate 3 dinner dance fundraisers, Father's Day outing at Lake Compounce, Rookie round up for the T-ball players, movie nights concession, pasta dinners, 5 years of endless hours of opening day ceremonies, Coaching teams and has also umpired for the league. Over his tenure, Ethan has been an individual that embodies all the criteria this award celebrates and honors. It is through his dedication, leadership, hard work and ability to work well with a team, in an otherwise thankless voluntary role, that makes him such a worthy and deserving nominee for this award.
