Wallingford Youth Soccer League
Bill Fallon
It is my honor to nominate Bill Fallon for the 2017 Champions for Youth
award. Bill has led the Wallingford Youth Soccer League TOPS program
for over 15 years. TOPS is an acronym for The Outreach Program for
Soccer. Developmentally challenged players are paired up with a buddy
mentors to play soccer and have fun. This is an equally rewarding
experience for the players and teenage mentors. The Wallingford TOPS
program is one of the most active in the state of CT with a fall, winter, and
spring season. Bill Fallon was recognized by the Connecticut Junior
Soccer Association for his efforts in Wallingford and for helping other towns
start or grow their TOPS programs. The time, effort and compassion Bill
has shown is amazing.
Andre Rodriguez
It is my honor to nominate Andre Rodriguez for the 2017 Champions for
Youth award. The Wallingford Youth Soccer League has had a shortage of
parent\adult volunteers to coach boys in house teams in 2015\2016 &
2016\2017seasons. Andre, who was 16 years old in his first season,
volunteered to fill the gap. While Andre coached the other volunteer
coaches saw his knowledge for the game and soon Andre was mentoring
them as well. In addition to coaching in-house boys Andre holds a US
Youth Soccer TOPS coaching license & a US Youth Soccer youth module
certification. This has served him well in his summer job as a Parks & Rec
counselor. Andre has one on ones with autistic children and frequently
works with special needs children.
Andre is currently a freshman attending Norwich University as a member of
the Corp Cadet Military program. He is also on the Norwich mens soccer
team.
