Dom Colavito

Dom brought NFL Flag Football to Wallingford 16 years ago after three years in New Haven.  The program has grown from one field at West Side to using two and a half fields at Pragemann Park.  The program is sponsored by the NFL is for boys and girls ages 5 to 15 years old.  Dom and his group of volunteers have taken a program of 50 kids to now 320 plus participants today.  The program runs from August through beginning of November with one practice and one game per week for over 10 weeks.  Games are played on Saturdays and each team gets a chance to play under the field lights at Pragemann Park on Thursday nights throughout the season.  Game results are not tallied.  There are NO league standings or playoffs.  At the end of the season Dom hosts a parents child pizza party complete with a mini Heisman like trophy for all participants, a skills competition and parent child flag football game.  I often hear parents say its the best deal and experience in town for youth sports.  Fun is the word of the day for this league.  It is one of Wallingford's youth opportunity gems.  Dom works professionally for Verizon, coaches 8th grade tackle football and still finds time to operate a league of 320 plus kids, coaches and game officials.
